Sha8ron: The 8 is Silent

A short documentary film by Craig Sinard

Sha8ron: The 8 is Silent

This 13-minute documentary film introduces Sharon Nelson-Vaux — a Minnesota-Iowa clay sculptor whose work spans more than 60 years.

Called “unreproducible” by a historical researcher, she developed her own techniques independently and rarely showed her work publicly.

Her early pieces use satire and dark humor to expose contradiction and hypocrisy. Her later work becomes more personal, exploring memory, family, and unresolved questions.

This film is an attempt to document what she made — and to ensure it is seen.
